MITCHELL TERK, MD: RADIATION ONCOLOGIST

Dr. Mitchell Terk is a board-certified radiation oncologist with more than 25 years of experience. He completed his undergraduate degree at Emory University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City in 1993. Dr. Terk continued his training at Mount Sinai, where he completed his residency in 1997. Dr. Terk is routinely recognized as one of the nation’s top oncologists, most compassionate doctors, and is a regular patients’ choice award winner.

Dr. Terk is an internationally acclaimed lecturer and has presented his personal research at major medical centers and a myriad of conferences and peer reviewed medical journals. He has trained physicians throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa on the newest cancer treatment techniques. He has published research on breast, gynecological, and gastrointestinal cancers. His special area of expertise is curing prostate cancer.

He is the medical director of TerkOncology and our world-renowned prostate cancer program, the Florida Center for Prostate Care. He has treated more than 10,000 men with all stages of prostate cancer. He has been performing prostate seed implants since 1994, having performed over 4,000 seed implants, making him one of the most experienced in the world. In 2013, Dr. Terk and colleagues published their long-term results in the treatment of early stage prostate cancer. At 10 years, 98% of their patients with low-risk prostate cancer were cured!

The Florida Center for Prostate Care has continuously expanded its services in order to become the premier destination for state-of-the-art prostate cancer care in the United States.

The center offers volumetric modulated arc tomotherapy (VMAT), prostate brachytherapy (prostate seed implants), Stereotactic Body Radiosurgery (SBRT or Cyberknife™ like treatments) and Hypo-fractionated (accelerated) radiation for all risk categories of prostate cancer. In addition, on-site PSMA and AXUMIN PET scan imaging, and Xofigo Ra-223 treatments are available.

The Center also houses an Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinic for the management of advanced and metastatic prostate cancer, utilizing new, non-chemotherapeutic agents such as hormone therapy and androgen receptor inhibitors (ARIs).

His personal interests include the arts, restoring antique automobiles and travel. He was elected a member to the Explorers Club in 1991, to the board of directors of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in 2015 and to the Cummer Museum board in 2023. His wife, Nadine Terk, is an accomplished artist and founder of the Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville. He enjoys spending time with his family, and his rescue dog, an Australian Shepherd.
